Exploring New Flavors with Delicious Chickpea Empanadas: A Gourmet Experience at Fresh at The Ave

As I sat down at Fresh at The Ave on a Friday morning, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of nervousness and hesitation as I stared down at my chickpea empanadas. I remember the feeling like it was yesterday. I knew that most people in West Baltimore had never tried this dish before, but I remembered how much my family was obsessed about it and figured that it was time to tie up my apron and get out of my head. So, I walked to my table at The Ave and decided to give it a shot and start with a few samples.

Let’s start with the first delicious spices and curry flavor that took most of my customers by surprise. It had immediately hit me, I was overthinking it the whole time. The crispy outer shell of the empanadas were like the icing of the cake. It brought a smile to my spirit just seeing how much people were enjoying this soft and savory snack. They loved them so much that some of them decided to come back for seconds.

Of course there were some people who were hesitant to try the empanadas. I mean, after all it was something completely new. Before deciding to make them, I expected that it wouldn’t be everyone’s cup of tea. I am grateful for the courage to step out of my comfort zone and try something new, as it truly paid off in the end.
